I haven't paid a great deal of attention to cars since high school, back when owning a 90's Japanese sports car was an achievable dream [ I’ve probably missed the boat on that one, they now cost a small fortune and I don’t have the parking space]. But when I saw this event promoted on my Instagram, it seemed like it would be worth checking out.
Asa No Kai 朝の会 [i.e. morning meeting] brings Japanese cars to the wonderful Japanese cafe, Yuna.
A brisk Sunday morning with an early start, vibes were good. Lots of people out and about, many of them also seizing the opportunity to take photos and videos of this shiny spectacle.
COFFEE
One of the two key ingredients to a cars and coffee event, Yuna delivers with a great coffee. They also do a range of specialty drinks which are great - I recommend the "dirty concrete".
A good variety of cars were on display, Skylines and Silvias being a clear favourite. To my (slight) disappointment, a distinct lack of Supras, with only one modern example showing up shortly towards the end.
It's hard to pick a favourite, but the below are some contenders.
But don't forget the miata
I was really taken with this mx5. It just looks like it would be so fun to drive!
Given how many photos I’ve got up here, I think it’s clear that I found this quite the enjoyable event.
[More so than I was expecting]
For better or worse my interest in cars is back, and I am now fighting the constant urge to check marketplace and see what might be in my budget...
small details
A collection of air fresheners, stickers, keyrings, etc. that I spotted throughout the morning.
Time to roll
With the smell of petrol and the rumble of exhausts, it was time to head home.
