About an hour to the north-east of Perth, in the heart of the wheat belt, lies Northam. A small town, and home to one of our nodes (offices) at work, which I had the pleasure of visiting recently.
We will delve deeper into Northam as this article goes on, but for now, we must start with coffee.
[If you're following along with the zines, this trip has produced not just one, but two!]
Damn fine coffee.Damn fine...
Chance of a discount?
After touching down from the red-eye flight, collecting the hire car and heading out to our office, it was time to go to work. While I'll spare you the details, I can share that our yard appears to have been commandeered by the local Ford dealer.
Green and Gold
As the first day of the trip comes to an end, it's time to check out the hotel and some of Northam's nightlife.
And by that I mean a schnitty and a beer at The Temperance Bar (Swan Draught tap had run out), and passing out after a long day.

Feeling Frosty
Up bright and early the next morning, I was greeted to some serious frost.
Thankfully I didn't immediately need the car, as I think I would have been waiting a while for it to defrost!
Despite the cold I wasn't deterred from taking a walk around the town.
First through the park and then along the river, I quickly wished I had some gloves as the air was bitingly cold.
Back into the town itself and I was treated with some brilliant light, hitting some not so brilliant buildings.
To each their own, but I am a big fan of these two photos.
A quick lap down the main street and then back to the hotel to get ready for the day.
The car still took a few minutes to defrost, and the wiper fluid had frozen solid...
Neon Nights
With work wrapped up for the day it was time to hit the town. This time to Lume Bar and Bistro, where I had a delightful beef vindaloo (despite being alerted that it was the spiciest curry on the menu) and a pint of Little Creatures Rogers (Their Swan Draught tap also dry).
Time to stumble back to the hotel, dodging rogue shopping trolleys as I go.
Another fresh and frosty start the following morning, and another lap of main street.
All frothed up
Possibly the most intriguing thing I saw on this trip - someone decided to bomb the main street fountain overnight. I was quite confused as to what I was looking at from a distance, and up close it just looked comical. Particularly the escaped foam which had made its way out of the fountain and onto a nearby bench.
Satisfied that the fountain was clean, I continued on, capturing these last few images before heading back to the hotel.
From here it was time to pack up, head out to the office for the last of my work, then back to the airport - where I did finally manage to get a Swan Draught on tap.
