The morning starts with a coffee at friend JJ's house before he kindly drives us the hour or so out to Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park (great coffee James!).

Arriving around 8am, we meet up with experienced birder Stu. If you're a fan of bird photography, Stu's Instagram or Facebook are a must follow.

From here we spent the next four hours walking around the park keeping an eye out for anything with wings, or also scales in Stu's case. We saw around 20 species of birds while we were out, mostly due to Stu's good spotting (the kingfisher evaded our photography though). Also present were a few kangaroos, and a couple of orchids (though hard to find!). See above or below for the photos - hopefully my ID's are accurate.

Following our trek, we rounded the morning (or then afternoon) off with a pub meal and a beer. A Mexican chicken schnitzel for me, accompanied by a pint of West End. A great morning out!
